About Us
Elastic Impulse is a very versatile band. They have played in many different musical settings and can adapt for almost any crowd. Whether it be a rockin club that needs upbeat cover tunes to a quieter dining scene that needs softer acoustic songs or even a backyard party. Colby and Dan have experience with all types settings which is why their song list is so diverse. Click on the "Song List" button below for an idea of some of the songs that can be provided either acoustically or as a full band.Colby Hawkins - Graduated from Endicott College in 2010 with a degree in Entrepreneurial Business and Computer Science. He started playing guitar when he was 12 after getting a guitar for his birthday. At the time his parents thought it would be something fun to do aside from playing sports. After 12 years of performing and playing with multiple bands, studying music, giving lessons and spending all his money on equipment, it has become his greatest passion. Colby manages gigs for the band, plays guitar and sings. He loves being on stage and playing with other musicians. He writes songs mostly of blues and alternative rock and hopes to finish multiple albums in the future.Dan Kelly - At a very young age Dan was introduced to many styles of music by his parents. Mainly used as a coping skill, music was perfect for Dan. Growing up he was told stories of his uncle Kevin's band. After Kevin's death, Kevin's 8 piece Ludwig rock kit was soon placed in Dan's bedroom. At the innocent age of 6 Dan began to play drums but wanted more. As the years went on, piano became Dan's new obsession. Through middle school and high school guitar was the new craze for Dan while playing in the jazz band and other projects outside of school. As a sophomore in highschool Dan was chosen to play bass for a band that Colby was in. Bass was a new and exciting instrument for Dan so he quickly became the best he could be. Colby and Dan realized there potential together and went through countless musicians trying to fill the group with diversity to make the band what it is today. Currently Dan is writing, recording, and performing his music trying to send his message.Joe Barisano - Multi-instrument musician. Began playing drums at the age of 7 and continued playing percussion through middle school and high school. Was an active member of Symphonic Ensemble at the University of Rhode Island from 2008 to 2010. Joe has played in a variety of bands throughout the years who's repertoires include reggae/ dub, funk and rock. Joe is currently a music minor at Curry College in Milton Mass, studying music theory and performance. He is primarily the drummer for Elastic Impulse, but also contributes on guitar and vocals during live performances. John Coffey - John started playing sax in 4th grade and continued to the present, but his true passion is piano. He began studying seriously as a sophmore in high school and continued teaching himself until he was accepted to Berklee College of Music in Boston. There he studied piano performance with names such as Mark Shilansky and Steve Heck. After a year and a half, John began to suffer from tendonitis and after a semester off, decided he needed a change. He applied to Loyola University in New Orleans and was accepted for the jazz studies program. While there, he also played sax in the Loyola concert band and sang in the university choir. He also started his own hip hop/funk band "Coffey Hour and the Funk Faculty" and played such venues as the Howlin' Wolf and Cafe Prytania. In New Orleans he played with many great musicians, such as Manuel Monestel, a calypso musician from costa rica, and world renowned Gary Burton. This band plays various genres of original music and cover tunes and can please any audience of all ages. Some of the band's influences are The Beattles, Stevie Wonder, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, BB King, Dave Matthews, Bob Marley and many more. They are looking forward to future performances and producing their own music .For booking please email us at: ElasticImpulse_gmail.comWe look forward to seeing you at some of our upcoming shows.
